DRA Bugs
Any errors that you find on Wiki pages are self-correcting: you should correct them yourself.
For purposes of this discussion, a DRA application bug can be placed in one of the following categories:
A server-side error, it will look similar to this: DraBugPython.
A Javascript error on your PC may look similar to this: DraBugJscript.
- An unexpected and undeserved Logon or Menu screen with an error message.
- A logic error that results in the display of incomplete or incorrect data.
For an error of the first type, the DRA application will automatically notify the appropriate staff member that a problem has occurred. You need do nothing other than avoid the function until it is fixed: usually a day or two. Note these types of errors may be caused by use of the browser back button while you are in the DRA application. The correct response, should you be caught doing this, is to display the Menu page with a warning message. DraRequirements discusses links and buttons to avoid, including the browser back button.
Errors of the second type occur on your PC. If you have just started to use the DRA application, it is probably a problem with your browser settings. First, be sure you are using a current version of Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, or Netscape Navigator.
For Internet Explorer versions 6 the default settings will work. (Click Help on the browser tool bar, then About Internet Explorer to see the version number.) If you are using the correct version, click on Tools, choose Internet Options..., click on the Advanced tab, click the Restore Defaults button, click Apply, then OK. If that does not fix the problem, report the problem as described below. Note the preceding process may undo one of your favorite browser settings.
Errors of the third type display a Logon page with an error message. If you leave your session idle for an hour, your session will automatically timeout to free system resources, and you will receive a Menu page with a message. Other causes can be your use of the browser back button. If you feel the error message received was not caused by your action (or inaction), please document it as described below.
Errors of the fourth type must be documented on the BugList or by emailing digitalrockart@yahoo.com and sending the page in error. While you are viewing the offending page, click File, Send..., Page by Email.... Briefly describe what your were doing, the time and date, and the error. On some PCs the message will not be sent until you start your default email program and do a send and receive.
